10 Daily Habits of Healthy Women

Gif by AnchorPoint on Giphy
They start the day with intention
Women who prioritize an intentional start to their day take charge of their thoughts, feelings, and actions before the impressions of the day reach them. This may look different for everyone, but engaging in meditation, yoga, breath work, EFT tapping, or journaling are just a few activities that align with intentional practices.
They divide and conquer with micro and macro habits
This habit can prevent the overwhelming feeling of accomplishing everything at once. This also allows space to notice how small changes lead to bigger shifts. It also provides time and space for macro habit implementation when and where they are needed.
They take accountability
This means being honest about the life around and in front of them. In my opinion, accountability is proactive whereas blame is reactive. Healthy women proactively decide what is (or is not) working for them and make changes that serve the woman they are proud to be or aspire to be.
They have emotional intelligence
This shows up in their observation, nonverbal and verbal communication, empathy, compassion, and many other daily interactions. Emotional intelligence can be taught and practiced, so do not worry if you've never heard of this concept. This subtle superpower allows you to navigate spaces with awareness and control in a reactive world.
They write their own stories
Healthy women are not women who are waiting for life to happen to them. They write their narrative and see life as an opportunity to happen through them.
They engage in physical activity that feels good
Healthy women understand that their physical wellness is one of the most valuable assets they own. They do not endlessly engage in unpleasant exercise but rather look forward to the movement they find enjoyable as fuel for their bodies.
They eat for nourishment
Women living and investing in mindful health practices take the time to enjoy food as nourishment. They understand and embrace that you have to eat to live and maintaining a healthy relationship with food is essential for balanced living.
They practice regular self-care
They schedule regular routines that provide rest, and relaxation to reinforce their desire to be healthy. Self-care is subjective but does not have to involve material things. Its importance lies in how the practice is prioritized.
They speak to themselves as women who are in love with themselves
I am personally in love with this practice!
Women who engage in this healthy practice understand that they do not have to wait for affirmation and admiration from anyone outside of them, rather they actively and passively set this as the communication standard. Since like attracts like, this practice can only bring more loving communication from the environment around them.
They end the day with gratitude
Ending the day with gratitude can soften the most stressful days. Women who are present in gratitude see and find the lesson in most or all things. This daily practice can connect you to the world around you instead of harboring fear, being consumed in anger, or staying stuck in disappointment with circumstances.
In conclusion
Healthy women understand that their well-being is one of the most valuable assets that they own, and they embrace daily practices with a mindset of discipline and commitment.

Your right to pleasure
In all aspects of your life, pleasure is not a luxury but a fundamental right. You may find yourself advocating for your pleasure, but it is important to be empowered while stepping into this right without hesitation or guilt. Normalize the idea that suffering should not be the expectation. Living a fully satisfied and enjoyable life is vital for physical, emotional, and mental health.
Consider how permitting yourself to experience pleasure can change how you show up and live abundantly in your world. Assess what aspects of your life are serving you and what no longer is of value. Have abundant courage and the audacity to align
with what feels good at all levels of your life. Giving yourself permission to receive and enjoy pleasure is equally important in this practice.
So, if you have ever needed a sign to take time to recalibrate your life to experience more pleasure, take time today to consider how to introduce this practice into your life.

I have been told I have prediabetes; can this be reversed?
Absolutely! First, what is prediabetes? If you have been diagnosed with prediabetes, your pancreas is a bit tired and unable to function optimally to control your blood sugars with what nourishment and lifestyle choices you are making.
Changes in mindset that include looking at food and lifestyle as your medicine can be the first steps in reversing this diagnosis.
In my opinion, food is not punishment, but it is also not a reward. It is nourishment that can be enjoyed. That enjoyment can come from a healthy place and does not have to be used to regularly overindulge, or supplement feelings or states of being.
If you have been diagnosed with prediabetes, approach and maintain conversations with your healthcare team about nutritional and lifestyle modifications that can be made to reverse this. This may involve a registered dietician and a personal trainer in addition to your medical provider. Inquire about a personalized plan that will work for you and where you are in your life.
Accountability matters here! Plan for follow-up that involves rechecking labs and discussing progress with your healthcare team.
